Julie Barnhill video ~ One Tough Mother

Make your home a haven of safety security and rest.  Get the biggest box of band-aids and scratch out "All-Purpose" and make them NO PURPOSE.  Use them for every kid that comes to you with an "owie".  No wound in a familly is so small that it should be overlooked.  Home should be where wounds are healed...not inflicted.

Create your haven with fabric, food, smells, sounds, creativity, and laughter.  Truth is the key.  Put a band aid on your child's ear when you say something that hurts them.  Be honest with them.  Say "I'm sorry" when it's appropriate.

The Barnhill family likes to find funny lines out of movies and then use them when things get tense or uncomfortableor just-because-it's-fun:
Princess Bride..." My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die."
Monsters, Inc....Roz says "I'm watchin' you Wazowski.  I'm watchin' you.  Always watchin'."

Other humor hits:  Silly Songs with Larry (Vegie Tales) and other funny kid songs.

When you walked out of the hospital or courthouse with your child, they didn't say "give me your sense of humor, ability to laugh at yourself, and your laughter".  We need to take that back.  Many times life is laugh or cry, laugh or lose your mind.

Home: a place of rest, healing, and safety.  Let laughter rule your home.
